Antique Rug

This is an antique rug pattern that I fell in love with! It was hanging on a wall in a restaurant that my husband and I stopped into on our way to Washington DC. As the hostess took us up a set of stairs that were over 230 hundred years old my mind was whirling with thoughts of who climbed these stairs, you could feel the history oooozing from the walls, amazing! Then as she took us to our table there hanging next to it was this rug, at that point went into a hooker coma and ran my hands over what loops were left and flipped the corner back and forth and inspected every inch of the rug. Then it was time to begin photographing it, my dear husband helped me and then waited patiently for me to quit looking at the rug and to look at the menu as his stomach growled from hunger! The history behind the cabin along with the original rug will be featured in The Wool Street Journal. This is a must see and read!

A RUG HOOKING TEA PARTY

 The Cream City Rug Hooking Guild meets twice a month to hook and visit and not

always in that order.

One of our gatherings, we made into a tea party. 

I sure hope I get an invitation next time! I will have to find just the right hat!

Egg Salad Sandwiches

2 hardboiled eggs, chopped fine

½ cup mayonnaise Salt and pepper to taste

1 tsp. chives, finely chopped

8 thin slices white or 

wheat bread Butter

Mix mayonnaise with eggs, chives, salt and pepper. Spread each slice of bread with a thin layer of butter. Divide the egg salad among 4 slices of the bread; top with the rest of the bread. Trim the crusts and cut each sandwich into 3 parallel sections to make finger slices. Refrigerate until serving.

Cranberry Chicken Salad

½ cup boneless chicken breasts, cooked and diced into small pieces

2 Tbsp. celery, finely chopped

2 Tbsp. dried cranberries

Mayonnaise 2 Tbsp. chopped pistachio nuts.

Mix chicken, cranberries and celery. Moisten with mayonnaise. Spread between bread slices cut to desired shape.

WALDO

Moms hands are busy as usual and she is stitching away putting on the finishing touches on her "Waldo" rug. She will continue to send me pictures of her progress and so we can see how she does it. I told her we need close ups!! FLIP THAT RUG OVER MOM!

Mom has been hooking away, and once again has out done herself? This is a chicken rug she designed and has named the chicken "Waldo" due to the fact she was hooking while the horrible fire spread through their hometown of Colorado Springs. The fire started in Waldo Canyon in Colorado. On a happier note she is attaching this darling pillow ticking as her binding. I will post pictures as she goes and the front side when she is done. Enjoy!

Update

I have been hooking on my rug on little trips away with my husband on his business trips. It helps not to have all the distractions that you have when you are at home. I sat outside this morning while it was still cool and pulled loops while listening to the birds. They sang beautiful songs to hook to!

Patio Pergola Project

Have put away the hooking for a few days and took advantage of the nice weather by getting the patio ready for spring and summer. Looking forward to days and evenings sipping sweet tea with good friends and family!
